About Sawdust Soup

Updated on

Sawdust Soup is an independent buying-guide site about table saws for home workshops. We help you compare saws and choose one with less guesswork.

We write for homeowners and weekend woodworkers shopping for a saw for the garage, the basement or a backyard shed. You don't need a cabinet shop's vocabulary, because we explain terms like rip capacity, kerf and arbor in plain words.

What we cover

Our guides cover compact, cordless, jobsite, contractor and hybrid table saws. We also cover the gear that goes with them, like blades, dado sets, miter gauges, featherboards, inserts and roller stands.

Many guides compare two saws or two saw types side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.

What we do

We read the product details, specs and maker information for every saw and accessory we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after using one.

Then we turn it all into plain guides and clear picks. You can read more on our How we research page.

What we don't do

We don't make, repair or sell saws, and no maker pays us to rank its products.

Sawdust Soup is an independent site. We aren't affiliated with DeWalt, SKIL, Bosch, Evolution, Delta, SawStop or any other saw maker.

We don't give step-by-step cutting instructions. A table saw can cause serious injury, so follow the maker's manual.

We don't claim to have tested every product ourselves. When we pick something, we tell you why, based on its specs, its features and buyer feedback.

How we earn money

Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
